Christmas survived...almost

Well, I made all of my Christmas gift deadlines except for one. Dad got only one sock, but he seemed cool with it, on the plus side it was the best crocheted sock I've made yet. I thought the sock addiction would have worn off by now, but it has not. My goal for this year is to learn how to knit in the round so I can really get fancy!

I also didn't quite make my self imposed deadline to get another paper submitted by Christmas....well, the new year actually, but I still have two days right?

I have one complaint this morning, and that is this stinking rain. We were supposed to be cross country skiing in Vermont today...but alas I am home blogging because of the weather. Normally I would be cool with that, but this year I finally broke down and bought new skis. I've contemplated it for like the past 5 seasons and never did it. You see my skis were much too long for me, since we bought them when we thought I still had a little growing left in me, but...I stunted at the staggering height of 5'2" and still skied with the long skis....I got pretty good at it, they were really good skis and I did ok. But, now there is this new trend that all the skis are much shorter...and I mean much shorter, I convinced Mark to buy a set last year and his skis are 20 cm shorter then mine...that was until Tuesday, when I decided to take the plunge, and got my very own brand new skis, poles and junior size boots! (Yea, my feet stopped growing before I did). I'm going to plug a local business here: New England Ski and Scuba not only did they have a fairly decent selection, which in cross country terms means more than two styles of skis, decent prices, and nice help. They mounted and cut my poles right there...while I waited! Less than one hour start to finish (including my indecisive nature, trying on boots, measuring poles, etc) and my shiny new skis were in my car! And now they are in the mud room just begging to be used. The weather gods have foiled me again!

Anyways: skis, boots and poles all from alpina:
Added note: after posting I caught up on my blog reading and realized that Krista has tagged me. I will respond as soon as I figure out someone who a) has a blog to tag, b) might in the next 12 months read my blog!
